Radnor Memorial Library: John Dobbyn: High Stakes

John F. Dobbyn is an American mystery writer who lives in Valley Forge and is best known for his stories set in Boston, featuring the lawyers Lex Devlin and Michael Knight. Dobbyn’s sixth book, a legal thriller, features Vlad Dracula, the 15th-century real person who was feared, loved, despised, and glorified practically as a saint by people throughout Europe and Asia in the mid-1400’s. The author will talk about Vlad Dracula, who is credited with being the greatest Christian leader of his age, and with the death by impaling of over fifty-thousand people in Romania. He was the basis for the superstitious belief of people in his province that he was Dracula the Vampire, brought to renown throughout the world by the classic novel written by Bram Stoker in 1879. Dobbyn obtained a Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School and had a forty-seven year career as a law professor at Villanova Law School. Books will be available from Main Point Books at the book signing following Dobbyn’s talk.
