About the Poets and Books
Joshua Weiner's translation (with Linda B. Parshall) of Nelly Sachs' Flight and Metamorphosis has been appearing for the last few years in publications such as Poetry, Harper's, and LitHub, featured by the Jewish Book Council, and adopted by the Goethe-Institut's book group. His most recent book of poetry is The Figure of a Man Being Swallowed by a Fish, and his reporting about the refugee situation in Germany, Berlin Notebook: Where Are the Refugees? was published as an e-book by LARB. The recipient of Whiting, Rome Prize, and Guggenheim fellowships, he teaches at University of Maryland and lives in Washington D.C.
Daisy Fried’s previous books are Women’s Poetry: Poems and Advice, My Brother is Getting Arrested Again, and She Didn’t Mean to Do it. Poems from The Year the City Emptied, her fourth book, have appeared in The Paris Review, The Nation, PN Review, Threepenny Review, Zocalo, Subtropics and elsewhere. An occasional book reviewer for the New York Times, Poetry Foundation, and elsewhere, as well as the recipient of Guggenheim, Hodder and Pew Fellowships, she is a member of the creative writing faculties of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
