The author, Tinell Mercer wrote the book with the intent to help children understand they are not weird just because their family is a little different. All over the world, blended families exist. The author herself comes from a blended family. With three stepchildren and one biological child, she felt there weren't enough books out there to help her own family understand their blended family. After reading this book, the author hopes every child comes away with a feeling of belonging and an understanding they are not weird.
